The Weird KFC advert causing chaos in the UK
Do you watch ITV1 and BBC television programs at home? Have you been watching your television peacefully, and suddenly, an upbeat, that sounded like afrobeats started to play,

and a group of people in the jungle dressed in pale brown tops and bottoms, in an outfit like Kanye West would love. They are dancing to the hard beat, that got a young man’s attention.
One of the scenes shows the young man being submerged into a greasy lake, in a way that looks like a creepy sacrifice,

because the rest of the brown group played their drums and danced, while a leader picked up the young man, but at the moment of submerge, the drumming and dancing stopped.
After he was submerged into the greasy pool, when he was brought out as dead,cut,and fried piece of chicken.

Then the rest of the guys shouted in jubilation and started playing their drums and dancing again. What is that? What on earth does that even mean?
KFC is a big brand. They have been for years, in all honesty, they don’t need an advert to get their patronage, they have their devoted customers.

They have people who can’t go a week without patronising them, so in my opinion, they didn’t have to go poking at religious lines, in order to make sales,

But then again, you never can tell how much a company is struggling, and when they take desperate measures like this, it will be for this reason.
The KFC advert that everyone is talking about. It is like a ritual; it is unnecessary for a brand like KFC, because people always refer to it when they are seeking a bucket of chicken.

The lines that followed, after the weird scene, were: “Believe in chicken. There is no doubt that the Christian faith often gets dragged into all kinds of things, by people who feel every type of way, but what could push a company as big as KFC to take such a step?

The advert gained attention because of its religious undertone, and this could have been one of the reasons why it was done.
They probably took a cue from France, who also did this same thing duijg the Olympics. It appeared unnecessary, but it is beginning to look like a way of life, for people who want some form of extra attention, always turn to poking at religious ways.

The Power Of Chicken
KFC went on to say some unsettling things like: “gather in the name of chicken” and “believe in chicken.” What’s the significance of these lines, to a fast good company like KFC? It voice have been “gather for chicken”, and still pass the same message to the public, but they chose to dig deeper, to get deeper attention.

While the main aim is encourage gatherkng amongst people, to promote unity amkng communities. But while some people saw it as calling for community unity, others didn’t, because the message was intensely ambigious.
It means different things to different people, so whatever it looks like, it is what ever you perceive, and many perceive it as an appropriation of religious lines, so it is what they think it is.

An Assumption Of their Intentions
I am going to take a neutral ground for a minute, and see if their intention was obvious, but they upsetting religious lines prevented me from seeing the obvious intention of the advert.
While chicken is eaten and shared in groups, and that means that people in gather to share chicken, as it brings people together on a happy note, to feast. Dinner, lunch, and party. It brought the world wide acceptable

But what impact will the line “Believe in chicken ” bring? How does that seem a little too much when people assume that it has nothing to do with chickens at all?

The word ‘believe in chicken’, is a confusing line, because using the word ‘believing’ right before chicken, is not common,
because we don’t need to believe in chicken for anything. We can eat and enjoy chicken with family and friends without believing in chicken.

Chicken has no need for our believe, it has no use for our believe, it is just chicken, and the word ‘believe’ is saved for some more important and more religious things. It is trying to unify the community with sharing chicken, chicken from a trusted brand like KFC.
Some people think KFC is encouraging gathering, of different people, different backgrounds, race, and ages, as seen in the video, where different people came together to share KFC chicken.

The Advert’s Criticism
While some couldn’t care less about what the advert means, others are very concerned as to why this was considered appropriate in the first place. The religious appropriation is screaming, and that overshadows the real intention of the advert.
The use of phrases like “gather in the name of chicken” and “believe in chicken” has been seen as insensitive or even mocking by some viewers. KFC’s intentions may have been lighthearted and playful, but the advert’s themes have clearly struck a nerve. Many people didn’t find it funny in any form. Instead, it came off as creepy.
I still think it was an intentional act by the company and its advertising team. There are many ways to encourage people to share your chicken product, or get them to enjoy your product, without being this far offensively offensive to many others.

Conclusion
KFC choosing to use “gather in the name of chicken” may have had a different intention. But this time it didnt go down well. It had left viewers offended, and this might just affect patronage.
This is a product for a wide range of individuals, those who are religious and those who aren’t, but when you boldly decide to offend a percentage of people who are your customers, this might just affect your patronage,

because they will associate your brand with the way they felt about your advert, and probably stay away from it. This will affect the brand negatively, so why do it?
