The Current situation of Nigeria has been trending all over the world. From the US President getting interested in the killings and kidnap of the innocent Christians, by the terrible islamic terrorists, who many have questioned their motives, wondered who is behind them, wondered who is benefitting from the chaos that the country is.
The festive season is fast approaching, literally, next week is Christmas, and we are just now catching a breathe, from the constant report that have been going in Nigeria.
Although the government would have preferred for all of these to die down, and never be heard of, but it was a world wide event that have left everyone involved, interested and then looking to fix it.
The entire world watched and were carroed along, when the terrorists were abducting and killing Christians. They didn’t kidnap anyone from the mosques, they basically did it from schools, churches and places.
The US government indicated interest in the situation, after the Christians of Nigerians where said to be in at high risk, and even have the highet killings of the entire Christians being killed world wide.
They were in such disgust that such guts were being shown in a Country as big as Nigeria, and not in smaller countries that have no international status or recognition. It is beautiful that Nigeria got the support of international dignitaries like President Donald Trump, Nicki Minaj, snd many others who spoke, still speak, and will continue to speak for the oppreseed christians of the world, especially Nigerians.
The Christians that were persecuted for the last 24 years, since 2001, have cried, called, yelled, called out, done so many things to get the Government’s attention on the issue. Government have gone from Obasanjo, Yar adua, Goodluck, Buhari and now Tinubu.
The persecution has gone in all directions simce then, and never in the favour of the Nigerian Northern Christians, who have been kidnapped, picked from their daily places of work, humiliated, and extorted, and sometikes killed. The world is now learning the current situation of the Northern Christians, who have been targeted for years, for their believes.
They refused to be the victims, and the killings and persecution have now motivated others into full Christian activation, praisng God in anyway at anytime they can.
Just last month it was deliberately intensified by some people, for reasons best known to them. While Nigerans were wondering if Trump was really going to make it rain bullets and justice for the Nigerian Christians, the ones he is supposedly seeking to protect from evil and persecution.
Just when he made that declaration, a sudden spike in all kinds of weirdness was noticed. Being kidnapped at randaom, some obviously pushed and perpetuated by some individuals ith identities, some actions were seen as seriously weird and unnecessary. The United States President kept on hammering on the need for the Nigerian President to have things under control, or the US would.
The Nigerian President reportedly accepted the hand of hel extended to by the US President, and the rest is history. By that, I mean that the rest of the conversation, or follow up action, was neither seen nor heard of.
The new month came, and we just carried on with life, didn’t hear of anymore kidnap and insurgency disturbance. We literally saw a video where a pile of northern men were dropped off in kwara state. And moments after that video trended, the whole unrest was set off, people being kidnapped, and ransomes demanded for.
And now, with just days to Christmas, and many people revealing that they have bought their flight tickets, months ago, to get it cheap and go do their detty december in Nigeria, wi their energy still be high and pumped for a detty december in a Country that just recently had all kinds of security issues? Some kidnapping and killing?
In all honesty, these all started when an alarm was raised to address the rate at which the Northern Christians were being killed by thr Fulani herdsmen. Of all times to raise this insecurity issue and tackling it, it had to be this close to detty december,
a time when many have planned to come and express their party side, and experience the Lagos party they have all heard and seen clips of. The fact that many are uncertain as to what thre next step would be, is an obvious sign, because President Tinubu has to now revealed that the security operatives have a hold on the situation.
Which is a very Nigerian thing to do. Not so much would be done to address an issue, not even a confirmation to that effect, but suddenly, a big, bold and beautiful announcement would be made, confirming that all is well in the lala land.
The rate at which the taxes hike are announced for Nigerians starting next year, would tell you that despite the insignificant development in Nigeria,
where many have asked what their increased taxes would be used for, when the previous taxes have not been put to any impressive use, ofcourse except for the people of Abia state who has been blessed with the best Governor, the very first time since it was created as a state.
Now the question on everyone’s lips is, will all of these impact on the detty December. See, Nigerians love their parties, they love their celebrations, and that is even intensified when thr festive season comes, because the igbos believe that festive season should be celebrated in the east, in their hometowns, in their villages, with their families.
So, when it comes to that part of December, the igbos are expected to find their way home. But with the rise in kidnapping, the rise in killing, the bad roads, the insecurities, and then, coupled with the hike in flights, most peole wil rather send money to their loved ones to celebrate Christmas, rather than risking their lives to travel down to them and spend Christmas with their family, because there is a high chance of a possible kidnap, ransom payment, killing and destruction of properties.
Now, this is for those who are living in Nigeria and know much about the happenings. They do not intend traveling down to other states, than the state the love and work. But what about those who do not live in Nigeria, but are from Nigeria? So many of them have change their minds on coming back home to ceebrate christmas this year, until the Government of Nigeria handles the insecurity issues.
What then now becomes of the people who have no idea how these things work in Nigeria, and they are hoping to come get the famous detty december experience, but with the insecurity challenges happening in the country. The movement across the states, the country, the streets. People will not feel safe enough to arrive here, when they have to be scared of even leaving their temporary accommodation.
Who exactly will be willing to leave their secured homes, and travel down to a country where insecurity ins the order of the day? Where they might get kidnapped, extorted, and perhaps lose their lives? This makes you wonder if the detty december is worth the risk and dnager they are likely to put themselves into, by travelijg down to Nigeria. What if this worsens when these tourists arrive Nigeria? After all said and done, the economy loves to have tourists come ino the country, spending their money and resources in the country, which is known to boost and continue to hold up the country’s economy. Over the years, this went from being the simple event, to something everyone wants to be a part of, to something we have to come appreciate it, and because of our huge appreciation, the rest of the world now want to come to lagos and experience the events. Just when it is begining to take shape, just like every African thing, they have decided to discredit it, by bringing inecuroties, to make it unattractive to the tourists, making them stay back in rheit countries.It is horrible.
