Many are anticipting the decision of the Labour Government, the law makers and the entire decision takers of the United kingdom, in terms of the waiting for their indefinite leave to remain.

While it is in the Country’s best interest to make the best economic decision, almost everyone has questioned why the law is being applied retrospectively,

after you have made an agreement with the peole who have come in to start their lives in the UK, from whatever country they have come from.

The rules are known to start with the people who did not make it into the country before the new rules, it really was an intense period and many carers. Not sure what the outcome would be, and how much impact it would have on them.

February was a big month for carers, because the sheer tension, the sheer uncertainty, where carers who have come into the countey in good faith, following the promises of the previous government,

where the current governemnt in hell bent on changing, to discredit the previous one, a politicial move that has been relevant in the world. Now the rules being changed will some how affect those who are already in the UK. While this is upsetting, it is not new.

The UK is known to always change her rules, from one government, to the other, because the successor needs to prove a point, and poke a hole in the policies and activities of the predecessors.

The UK is mostly a place people who love to take risks, get to be in, because they are constantly changing rules, laws, policies, choices, ways and so on.

While Canada is known for her more relaxed, more friendly, more understanding, more accomodatig rules, where people already know what to expect with a certain number of years. It is calmer, more at peace, more family friendly way.

The UK carers were advised to write to their MPs, detailing how the proposed changed would affect them and their colleagues, snd they have only till February 12th to make the MPs undertand their fears and faith.

For this reason, February was considered a big month for the carers in th united kingdom. The Prime Minister, Keir Starmer’s Government, Labour Government, trying to worse the already unplesant route of carers.

While the Prime minister, Keir Starmer declared his loyalty toward carers, since his sister is a carer, the carers are bejn to worrh about this, because his government has proven not to have any problem with making U-turns on things they have proposed.

The current government has been facing scrutiny, needing to answer questions thrown at it, explaining things alittle further for better understanding, and facing scrutiny from the people.

The controversy focuses on the currrent labour government’s immigration reforms, particulary the proposal to extend the indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) period from 5 to 10 years.

This is said to have a high tendency to impact not just the carers, but the communities. This fear has been heightened by the threats of the labour government,

even the MPs are scared that this would happen, should the government ever go ahead and implement their plans. This is going to enslave the already enslaved carers in the sponsorship routes, who have little to no say in how they are treated, how they are respected.

The ILR extension is comfortably sitting in the government’s white paper, and that alone has caused unrest in the heart and minds of the innocent carers who were promised one thing, and are now facing another thing.

The main plan of the labour Government is to take control of the immigration system. Now instead of the illegal migration being the focus, which ofcourse they are still struggling to have control,

they are turning back to the legal side, the ones where everyone was charged, and requirements were legally met. If the Labour Government can not handle the water crossing guys, so they turned to take even more control legal side of immigration.

They have outlined the plans to double down on the people already in the sytem, on the route to receive the ILR.

They have increased the waiting period with some requirements, the english standard, which I particularly do think is a right move, because people need to communicate properly while in the country, and then raise the skilled worker visa threshold to degree level.

The UK MPs have confirmed that this could affect carers and the community, especially the aged popularity, many of whom work in social care and may not meet the new degree-level requirement,

or even pass the english requirement, because there literally is no way you can understand the words that come out of the mouth of these guys, which is why the i 100% support the english language requirement.

Being that I am a Nigerian, I know that an average Nigerian has a BSc degree certificate. So the change targets the net migration, which focuses on prioritising higher-skilled workers,

but this also has a high tension to backfire. Now not the critics alone, but the politicians and the ordinary people in the society, have seriously argued that this is not going to go down well, if it is done.

The modern day slavery that is low key in existence among the Carers ans their employers, is in its baby stage, which critics and advised, would be in full force when the government implements this extension,

and that would give even more years and liberty to the already negtively creative employers, to carry on exploiting, carry on enslaving the carers.

They are underpaid and overloaded. They are considered as the ‘low paid’, but rather than do something to improve that narrative, the government is punishing them for being low paid? I do not think so anyway.

There are the carers who pause their loves to care for their ailing family members. So the carers who are on career/professional level, to the carers who are on personal note with their family members.

One side of the carers, that is the ones on the personal note, are the citizens, because government does not care about your decision to stop work to go care for your loved one, so the people who do this on one side, are the citizens, while the professional carers are the ones who are not citizens first.

The private ones are forced into financial hardship when they leave their means of livelihood, to care for their ailing family members, and it is incredibly low.

The private Carer’s Allowance is the lowest of its kind, and only those caring for more than 35 hours a week and earning less than ยฃ151 a week can claim it. They are different from the carers on ILR, the ones who carer for strangers, for clients that their companies have contracts with.

The government’s plans haven’t addressed these issues, leading to calls for urgent reform.

The clause seems to also be rejected, snd the government needs them to put in the hours, to confirm that they are indeed caring for the ailing family members are not just lying.

To top it all up for the innocent Keir, in addition to the already hot seat of Keir Starmer who is already going through it right now, already walking on a tightrope, from his USA ambassador being linked to Epstein, to his loyal guys resigning.

Now he is being asked to resign, and now the carers are at the brink to leaving, if the decision is made, which Sir Keir himself has confirmed the importance of the Carers.

He said his sister is a carer, but we wonder if her category is the professional or the private one, and the government is promisimg things on a long term, when they need immediate relief in the care sector.

At first the social care overseas route closure removes a key entry path for lower-paid carers, and that is a change that we all have come to get used to. They also mentioned the carer’s allowance which is said to be low.

The government has planned a National Care service which obviously needs time, compared to the immediate need of carers.

And this proposed government’s immigration reforms have sparked debate about the value placed on carers. Are they just tools to be used and disposed of? Are they just used and not considered as humans.

As of 12th February came, everyone contributed, expect continued discussion on how to balance immigration controls with support for unpaid carers, and the impact carers have towards the decision ended on the 12th, and many are in expectation.

Conclusion

Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer’s government, extending the Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) period from 5 to 10 years, will seriously imapct carers and migrants, and the peoole who rely on carers on an hourly and daily basis, are lending their voices, as they are scared of what might become of them when the carers angrily leave. I hope the government takes the right decision, to prevent it from ever getting bad.
