Counterfeit Labubu Dolls flood the UK market
On 10th August 2025, Adrian Simpsons from the society of counterfeit, came on BBC breakfast show to talk about the intensity of counterfeit Labubu Dolls in the UK, and their resulting consequences.

Officers were tipped or given a lead that revealed a warehouse of labubu dolls in London. According to investigation, the market has been deemed lucrative, following the buzz for the creepy doll.

The influencers on social media, have succeeded in creating a buzz around the product, and it has made the easily influenced humans want it even the more.

Reason The Counterfeit Came Into Existence
While the legitimate market for the doll is said to sell out in minutes after restock on their website, the obsessed collectors have been piling up the popular collectible dolls,

which come in different colours and outfits, making those who already have one or more, to want even more, in different colours and fits.

This makes it hard for others to get as few as one, creating scarcity in the market. This scarcity has given ideas to the counterfeit market guys, who have seen a gap, and have decided to act while it still exists.

The toys have gone ahead to capture the willing hearts of its fans, from children to adults alike.

This toys however, are not cheap. We have heard of various prices for them, but the shocking one is one listen on Ebay, at £700, for the one the creator personally signed on.

Someone may have gotten it when the dolls weren’t this famous, and now that they have gained this much attention, someone enlisted it on Ebay to ride on the waves and benefit from it.

The number of people who are looking to benefit from the waves however, are so high. The good and not so good people are doing any and everything they can, to get some financial benefits while they still can, before the love for it dies down. They evade tasks, and other payments as a business.

These dolls are not your idle type of dolls, not exactly cute, more feisty looking and crazy, which makes you wonder why it is loved so much, by ladies.

In a bid to ride on the waves and get some money from it, a few guys have taken a bad decision towards the sells of Labubu toys, creating theirs, while keeping to no standard at all.

Concerns have been raised about the safety of the customers patronising the counterfeit ones, because of the ability to detach body parts, which automatically poses a choke hazard for the children who would be using them, while the adults might end up losing these detachable body parts.

The dolls originated in Asia, and after their popularity worldwide, have been widely acceptable and sort after.

The creepy faced dolls is considered cute by some people, while the rest think of it as being simply scary for some adults and mostly kids.

It has got a quirky designs, but unlike the authentic design, the counterfeit ones has got interchangeable body parts, that allows users to change it up to their taste, a little switch that is considered risky.

Unlike the authentic labubu dolls that were made with high-quality materials, and a good amount of consideration for safety, especially for children, who are prone to choking. They are intact and lack the ability to detach body parts.

Counterfeit Labubu dolls flood the UK
The counterfeit Labubu Doll have been found in large quantity in various parts of the UK, though reasonably hidden, with shop keepers displaying them online, one on one with customers, and online shops, passing them off as the real thing. These fake Labubu dolls are then sold online as well as in the physical stores.

They have little to no consideration for the users of these dolls, that’s why the dolls were made with incredibly cheap materials, as the aim is to sell them off immediately, with no care for whatever it may lead to when it gets to its end users.

Though the mimic isn’t as impressive as the real thing, but the main issue is the ability to be detached, which makes it easy for kids to put in their mouths, and pose a choking hazard.

The UK’s Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has also warned about the dangers of counterfeit toys, including the risk of choking hazards.

This is because the detachable body parts can easily lodge into a child’s throat, which could cause serious hazard, or at worse, loss of life.

These underground manufactureres don’t follow any guidelines, because they are not legitimate companies. An investigation helps the authorities get to them, from pretending to customers, and also sending in their undercover officers.

If a child or an adult gets hurt through the use of this toy, they will have no one to revert to, no one to complain to, and no one to bear the consequences. It is a scary thing, because the customer care lines are also as fake as the manufacturers.

They fail to meet any standard, because they are not held by any rules, since they operate as an invisible entity, selling to real humans online, without a traceable name to it.

When delivered, these dolls have raised concerns among parents, collectors, and regulatory bodies, with the funny one being that the dolls could be seen with smiley faces,

probably because the counterfeit manufacturers, thought it wise to change up something about it, and they chose to change the creepy, crazy look of the original one.

Regulatory bodies Track And Sieze Counterfeit Labubu Dolls In The Uk
The regulatory bodies are working to find, close up, and seize these counterfeit toys warehouses, with the possible plans to destroy them.

What Can Parents, Collectors and lover of the Labubu toy do?
One thing is to make sure that the legitimate website where the real thing is sold, is where they are ordering from. We want to assume that the real website will not have the fake doll selling there, and this will enable the fight on counterfeit.

While the regulatory bodies continue to crack down on the physical shops/warehouses, everyone is responsible for the choices they make online, but the crack down also extension online.

This is why you must be extra careful not to fall a victim, but if you have fallen a victim already, you can do well to report the entire thing to the right authority, to enable the investigation and fight against counterfeit.

Secondly, parents and caregivers must be aware of the toys coming into their homes for kids to play with. The moment it starts to detach it body parts, then you already know that it is not real, and this also extends to the adult collectors of labubu toys.

When the counterfeit vendors realise that their business isn’t as lucrative as they thought, they are likely to be discouraged.
Conclusion
The rise of counterfeit Labubu dolls in the UK market has raised significant concerns about the safety of these products.

The detaching body parts on these dolls pose a choking hazard for young children, and regulatory bodies, parents, and collectors must work together to address this issue.

By ensuring that toys meet safety standards and are authentic, we can protect children from the risks associated with counterfeit products products, and discourage the invisible manufacturers.
